St. Alban's Saturday prayer gatherings are open too all who desire to hear God's Spirit through personal reflection, and community prayer and sharing. This group invites learning, and the practice of different prayer forms to enrich our connection to the Holy One. This year's theme, Praying Beneath the Words, honors the importance of listening to the "still small voice" of God that often comes through experiences that are more experiential than verbal.
As we enter into 2015, below is a list of upcoming gatherings, the guide(s) for each, and the focus for that day. Unless otherwise noted, all events take place Saturdays, 10 a.m. - noon in the Living Room at St. Alban's Episcopal Church located at 333 S. Drexel Avenue, Bexley, OH 43209. Some dates, topics and guides are still being confirmed so check back often. To connect with someone, visit the "Contact Us" page on this blog.

Meditating on God through Visual Language:
Icons, crosses, and other aids to Prayer
Christianity is an incarnational religion. As C.S. Lewis wrote, “God likes matter, he invented it.” We often avoid, however, employing all of our senses as aids to prayer. We will be learning how to pray with traditional icons, known to Eastern Christians as ‘Sacred Doorways’ to prayer. Icons help us to focus on God through a visual focus, using a visual language rich in symbology and images. Over the centuries, this visual language has helped millions of believers to open a door to prayer, thus centering their eyes and minds on the Incarnate One.
Join us as we gaze upon Christ and be gazed upon in return!
